Central
Valley California Dual Diagnosis Treatment
This
component provides chemical dependency and adult mental health
services through our own Multi-disciplinary treatment team as
well as contracting with behavioral health providers throughout
Merced County and the Central Valley.
The Growing Problem of Dual Diagnosis
According
to SAMSHA statistics a growing percentage of persons currently
entering Alcohol/Chemical Dependence treatment facilities, are
diagnosed with dual disorders. This challenges the client as
well as the treatment facility to develop a plan in which all
issues are addressed in the treatment experience. A. Lujan
Recovery Programs is part of that solution, and knows well that
clients experiencing co-occurring addiction and psychiatric
disorders are the expectation, not the exception, and in
response, A. Lujan Recovery Programs has crafted superior care
for clients with mood disorders or other psychiatric diagnosis
who wish to stop using alcohol or other drugs.
Individualized Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Whether
depression, Bi polar disorder, anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive
disorder or other conditions, at A. Lujan Recovery Programs we
believe that each individual has a unique situation and set of
needs they bring to their treatment providers. A. Lujan Recovery
Program’s treatment services strive to provide the very highest
quality dual diagnosis professional care for clients diagnosed
with mood disorders and abuse or addictive disorders. Our
specialty Psychiatrist is able to evaluate and prescribe
psychiatric medications if necessary, to stabilize the
individual so they can participate in their treatment.
As the
individual progresses in a drug free lifestyle, under the care
of our Counselors and Consulting Professionals, the individual
increases their repertoire of positive coping strategies to
successfully address their mood disorder or other psychiatric
disorder in a safe and highly therapeutic treatment setting.
The Three Parts of Dual Diagnosis Treatment
There are
three parts to dealing with clinical mood disorders, all equally
important to fully address the issue.
1.
Psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis followed by regular
monitoring of medication with the goal of getting the client
chemically balanced.
2.
Individual and group therapies addressing specific addictions
and co-occurring conditions.
3. The
client must become an active participant in accepting, then
positively coping with dual disorder.
As the
client grows in their sobriety, they also gain positive coping
strategies in dealing with their mood disorder, whether
depression, Bi-Polar, Obsessive-Compulsive disorder or other
conditions.
Comparative to a diabetic who is also alcoholic, quality
recovery occurs when both areas are addressed.
